Prof. (Dr.) Surinder Pal Singh Oberoi Grand Ph.D., Prof. in Philanthropy NOBLE PHILANTHROPIST, EMINENT SOCIAL WORKER & SAVIOUR SINGH ਵਿਚਿ ਦੁਨੀਆ ਸੇਵਾ ਕਮਾਈਐ।। ਤਾ ਦਰਗਹ ਬੈਸਣੁ ਪਾਈਐ ।। Dr. Surinder Pal Singh Oberoi, the first Indian, that too Punjabi, is a signature in the field of philanthropy & Selfless Social Services on the international map. He is deeply dedicated to serve the weaker, underprivileged sections of society through their social, cultural, educational and economic upliftment. The story behind his transformation is highly sensational, when he heard the cries of mothers under the pangs of fear to loose their wards, who were sentenced to death in a case of group fighting in Sharjah. He paid about 2.2 million US Dollars from his personal savings as blood money to save the lives of 17 boys. Although it was all done at the cost of his business.The Humble Dr. Oberoi attributes that he could do all this only by Grace of Waheguru. He has become one and only one SAVIOUR SINGH in the world, who has been able to release about 89 youth from death sentence involved in criminal cases in UAE and has rendered legal assistance to amicably resolve their cases. Not only he gifted their wards in the laps of the disappointed mothers, he granted them a regular financial assistance up to Rs. 10,000 p.m. per family in addition to adoption of their children for education.He started helping every new entrant to know about prevailing laws in gulf countries. He also set up "Modi Khanas" in Dubai & Sharjah, where people, irrespective of nationality, could get free ration for 15 days. ਜੇਤੇ ਜੀਅ ਤੇਤੇ ਸਭਿ ਤੇਰੇ ਵਿਣੁ ਸੇਵਾ ਫਲੁ ਕਿਸੈ ਨਾਹੀ ।। This is how he jumped into field of serving people and have opened branches of 'Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Trust' all over India and abroad, and have never looked behind. Dr. Oberoi is of the view to do only good and give back to the society as much as he can. He is serving the mankind with passion by sponsoring for needy but brilliant children for higher education, by offering pension to old women, widows and monthly support to other NGOs, infrastructural support to educational institutions and jails, and providing free cataract surgeries with modern PHACO techniques, dialysis facilities at nominal rates and financial assistance for major surgeries in addition to regular monthly help to chronic disease patients, installing commercial R0s, for supply of purified water to nearly 8 lakhs school students. The Trust had also contributed by launching a special scheme for poor and homeless people by giving financial support for repairing & construction of new houses in the villages of Punjab. Only a few of the various social activities of the trust are briefly mentioned in this brochure. Purpose of this report is not only to highlight the achievements of 'Sarbat Da Bhala Charitable Turst', but is an eye opener for the well-to-do people to come forward to serve the Society.
